Begin your trip with a narrated tour of Atlantic City highlights. Then, continue on to the famous Absecon Lighthouse. Atlantic City has a fascinating history that began before the building of casinos and attractions! Dr. Jonathan Pitney is known as the "Father of Atlantic City." He was instrumental in getting the Absecon Lighthouse built in 1856. Your tour of the historic lighthouse gives you a glimpse into American maritime history and Atlantic City's past.
You can also visit the Atlantic City Aquarium, a combination aquarium and marine science education center, with more than 100 species of fish and other marine creatures. Enjoy a close-up look at Giant Moray Eels, seahorses, jellyfish, an octopus, a coral reef and much more. At the Aquarium's 750-gallon Touch Tank, visitors may actually handle sea urchins, shrimp, whelk, mussels, hermit crabs and other sea creatures. A gigantic 23,000-gallon tank showcases Fish of the New Jersey Coast, among them sea bass, sand tiger sharks, northern stingray and kingfish.
No trip to Atlantic City would be complete without seeing Lucy the Margate Elephant. This 90 ton mammoth pachyderm was built of pieces of timber, tons of bars and bolts, and countless kegs of nails in 1881, but she continues to delight everyone who meets her today!
